Now is Good
Picture this … You’re scrolling through your phone, and you stumble upon a photo of yourself from about a year ago. You pause, looking at the image, and a flood of memories rush in. You remember the plans you had back then, the big, grand goals you set for yourself. You were determined that by now, things would be different. You were going to be in a better position, have started something new, or made significant progress in some area of your life. But as you look at that picture, you realise something unsettling. Your life hasn’t changed much. Despite all those intentions, you’re still in the same spot.
Sound familiar? This scenario is all too common, not just in our personal lives but in the business world as well. It’s September now, and many business owners are probably reflecting on the goals they set back in January. New Year’s resolutions, financial year plans, grand ideas that were meant to transform their businesses. But here we are, more than halfway through the year, and for many, nothing significant has changed.
Why does this happen? Why do we set these goals with such enthusiasm, only to find ourselves in the same place months, or even years later?
The answer lies in one simple concept…Action.
The Trap of Procrastination and Non-Productive Tasks
It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day tasks that feel productive but aren’t actually moving you closer to your goals. You might find yourself busy, even overwhelmed, but are you making progress? The reality is that many of us, especially business owners, fall into the trap of coasting along. We want change, we plan for change, but when it comes down to it, we don’t take the necessary steps to make it happen. Instead, we get lost in non-productive activities, and before we know it, another year has passed.
The Importance of Taking Action
The difference between those who achieve their goals and those who don’t is simple. Taking action!!! It doesn’t have to be a massive leap, even small, consistent steps can lead to significant changes over time. But the key is to start. Stop waiting for the “perfect” moment, because it doesn’t exist. The best time to start is now.
The financial year ended on June 30th, and for many businesses, the new financial year was a fresh start. But how many have taken advantage of that fresh start? If you’re still in the same position as you were last year, it’s not too late to make a change. The beauty of life and business is that every day is an opportunity to start anew. But to make the most of these opportunities, you have to take action.
Now is Good
So, here’s the message. Don’t wait. Don’t let another year go by with unfulfilled goals and unrealised potential. Look at that picture of yourself from a year ago and let it be a reminder—not of what hasn’t changed, but of what still can change. Get motivated, get moving, and start making progress toward the goals you set. Whether it’s growing your business, improving your skills, or pursuing a new venture, now is the time to start.
Because in the end, the best time to take action is now. Now is good.
